Communication, Communication, Communication
In my experience, most conflicts in the office or at home arise from communication problems. Everyone interprets situations and communication differently. These interpretations are filtered by past experiences, culture and beliefs. This idea of interpretations being filtered is exactly why police find that eye witnesses are the least valuable source of information in investigations.
I’ve found that in conflict there are always three stories (yours, mine, and the truth which lies somewhere in between). The first step in conflict resolution should always be to recognize your own prejudices (interpretation) by seeking out the truth. Anything else will surely escalate the conflict.
Sounds like part of a conversation you and I might have had seven or eight years ago.
Interesting blog; Looks like you are doing well for yourself.
Take care,
